I am looking for a particular article or topic and I am having trouble finding anything. Can you give me any advice?
|
|
AugustaArchives.com contain every page of the newspaper scanned in from microfilm of old editions. While most of the pages have been preserved, older editions are damaged and searching is not as easy. The best way to narrow your search is to know the specific date that you are looking for. Use a date range to narrow your search. You can even select the exact page of the paper that you are looking for by selecting browse by date.

Why do you charge for access to the archives? |
|
The scanning, database and search technology used to build the archives is very expensive, so the fees for access help us to pay for improvements. Most geneological libraries and research librarians charge fees for their services. Our prices are set to be competitive with these industries.

My username and password won't work (or I forgot it). What should I do? |
|
Make sure that you are using the username that you
chose when you registered.
You should have chosen your own password when you registered, and verified it by typing it
twice. When entering your password, make sure your "Caps
Lock" key is not on. Usernames and passwords are "case sensitive". Also,
make sure you distinguish between numeric zeros and the upper case 'O'.
If you want to change your password you will need to know your current password.
If you have forgotten your password you can have a new one sent to your e-mail address. The password will be auto-generated at first, but you can change it to whatever you like.

Why can't I print a page? Can I zoom in when I print? |
|
To print a page from the archives, select the print icon inside of the viewer. DO NOT select "print" from the top of your browser window - this will not work. Only clicking on the print button inside of the viewer will print out the page correctly.
You can print the page displayed on the screen by choosing the Print icon within Adobe Acrobat and clicking OK from within the print window. If you wish to print just a section of the page, choose the “Graphic Select Tool” in the Adobe Acrobat window, and draw a box around the portion of the image you wish to print. Click the Print icon within Adobe Acrobat and be sure “Selected Graphics” is selected under the Print Range section of the print window. Also, choose “Expand small pages to paper size” or “Displayed Area (fill page)" if you wish to have your selection print larger (fill the page).
If you are having problems printing, check to make sure your printer is working by printing out a normal document from your computer. If your printer is on and functioning, be sure you are clicking the Print icon inside the viewer, NOT your web browser's print button or the FILE > PRINT option.
If you are on a network (work, school, library, etc) of computers you may have problems with the security systems for these institutions. Because a picture file is embedded into the page you see, your system administrator may have disabled your ability to print or even view the document. Please notify the administrative department if you think this is the case.
For PC users: To print a page from the archives, select the print icon inside of the viewer. DO NOT select "print" from the top of your browser window - this will not work. My search results returned no articles or
an error message that I did not understand. |
|
Your search may return zero articles for several reasons. If
your search terms are too broad, you will find a maximum of 200 pages. You will need to add more
terms to your search and be sure to search for all of the terms or connect them
with "and". Searching for any of your terms or using "or" to
connect your terms in the advanced search will increase, not decrease, the number of
articles found. |
